“This Will All Disappear Someday” (2025) is a hand-carved 24" × 36" inked woodblock created while listening to a playlist of songs that lift me up — tracks that spark emotion, momentum, or just make me say “hell yea!” The block was carved start-to-finish with that playlist looping, so the rhythm and energy of those tracks are literally embedded into the lines, cuts, and flow of the piece.
The work centers on a vertically oriented cassette, a nod to the way we once held onto music. It is paired with a modern scannable code that links to the actual playlist behind the piece. It’s a blend of past and present: analog memory meeting digital impermanence. As formats shift and platforms fade, this code will eventually break. The cassette is already obsolete. The songs will carry new meanings over time. The artwork becomes a time capsule of a creative moment anchored in sound, emotion, and process.
Surrounding the cassette, floral and vein-like carvings echo both natural growth and circulatory pathways, reflecting the internal ways music moves through the body. These shapes mirror the pulse of the playlist itself: branching, blooming, repeating.
