I'm all about exploring and photographing lesser visited places. A friend stumbled across this relatively unknown canyon one day and I knew I had to go with him to see it. After a three hour ride on public transit we began the sloggy walk up a steep logging road. Soon we could hear the creek below and we veered off into the bushes. Within a few minutes we reached a steep slope, got the rope out and made our way into the canyon.
It was summer, but it didn't feel like it. The air in the canyon was cold and damp and the water itself was ice cold from snow melt higher in the mountains. We waded upstream through frigid pools and over rocks that were slippery as ice.
Suddenly the end of the line came into view, and what a view it was! Verdant, intimidating walls and beautiful cascades.
It's safe to say I will return.
