Guiding on Vatnajökull in Iceland provides me with many opportunities to explore places few, if any, have been. This shot was taken not on a glacier, but inside of an iceberg on a frozen glacial lake. During the wintertime, Iceland becomes so cold that these lakes freeze, creating a thick layer of ice that can be walked on. This additionally freezes the towering icebergs in place and what was once a floating arch, is now a crystal ice cave. Then when it warms again, it melts and ceases to exist.
