As I stood inside a bowling alley, looking out with my camera in my hands, I saw the world change in front of my eyes in an instant. The dark clouds parted and a light that can only be defined as heavenly came down to illuminate the stark white mosque sitting amid the lush green mountains. In that moment, I truly realized the power of photography. Because if I was able to capture this fleeting moment that passed within seconds, I would be able to capture fleeting moments for the rest of my life before it was too late to freeze them in time.
This image was taken in Islamabad, Pakistan and it shows the majestic Faisal Mosque – the largest in Pakistan and the 6th largest in the world – as it is showered by the golden light from above. I am still not sure what the main subject of this frame is, the architecture or the nature that surrounds it? Is it both? Or maybe it’s someone inside the mosque calling out to Nature for an answer…
