After 2 weeks following the Okondeka pride in Namibia's Etosha National Park, the going had been tough.
12 hour days, 40c+ heat, terrible dust, and little-to-no photos. Hope was nearly lost, until it wasn't.
On the final morning, I was photographing the lead lioness next to their resident watering hole. In the distance, a bedraggled wildebeest approached looking to rehydrate. This was it.
The lioness ducked low, with the wildebeest slowly ambling toward us. I moved my vehicle 300m away from her in anticipation of her hunting path - this is where experience pays off.
After around 30 minutes, the wildebeest was practically on top of her. She finally leapt up, straining every sinew in an effort to catch her meal. They came directly towards me, running past my 4x4 at breakneck speed.
Somehow, the wildebeest lived to tell the tale.
These are the moments I live for.
