Cambodian Sanskrit Mask #1 (Monkey King)

This is the 1st piece of my collection ‘Cambodian Sanskrit Masks’. This mask represents Mohajumpu, the monkey king who faithfully serves Preah Ream. Each mask is a character in the story of Reamker, an epic Sanskrit poem. This is a legendary battle between monkey soldiers & demons. Reamker tells the story of King Preah Ream and Hindu Monkey God Hanuman who work together to help rescue Preah Ream’s wife from the King of the Underworld (Krong Reap). 2067px 2630px
