my mother was a midewiin elder. she was resilient. she survived religous & cultural persecution of the residential school system in canada. many indigenous children did not. 215 indigenous children were just unearthed at a residential school-there will be more. i offer semah wrapped in red cloth (the ancestors can see red), to send those young child souls on the journey to join their ancestors. i do this today on what is canada day 2021 sâkihâwasow ~ cree "s/he loves his/her children"
