Welcome to Riquewihr, a jewel of the Alsace Wine Route. A medieval village in the east of France that remains relatively unknown to the rest of the world. A quaint village nestled among vineyards, Riquewihr has been a wine producing settlement for centuries. It was one of the rare villages in Alsace to have escaped destruction during World War 2, and has been elected one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France.
The towers and colorful half-timbered wooden houses can be admired from a vantage point along the Riquewihr Wine Trail that encircles the village. The architecture here, similar to other medieval Alsatian settlements like Colmar, have a German influence.
In the golden morning light at the peak of autumn, the view to Riquewihr through the vineyards is a magical experience, one worth sacrificing your sleep for.
