Some days I shoot flowers I find & some days I have a flower in mind that I want to explore. This day, it was roses I wanted. I went on a hunt at my local florist. Nothing was inspiring me until I found this rose. It was sitting on its own amongst pink & red roses. I was immediately drawn to it for its beautiful gradation of colour.
I like to go back & reshoot flowers over a few days because like a human model, I get to know them the more time I spend with them. On day one I found a great photo but on day two I found this! The petals moved & curled to create one of my favourite images!
I was struggling to find a name; I love this photo so much, so I needed to love the name just as much. Is it ok if I called you mine is a song by Paul McCrane in the original Fame movie. The song stayed with me from the moment I heard it. Now decades later I get to link it to my photo forever.
Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, so I thought it was a perfect day to share my perfect rose.
