Two of my favorite writers, Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky and Ryunosuke Akutagawa, show us the idea of human from many sides. They explore how a person changes over time and can he change at all as a person?
This painting is inspired by events from the life of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky. During his lifetime he was sentenced to death, but at the last moment the execution was changed to hard labor and exile.
Being on the verge of life and death, Dostoevsky comes to eternity. It was the experience of eternity and faith in God that helped him create many works.
In this picture, Pepe, even being in closed walls, feels freedom and sees his path with his eyes closed. This is a work about free will. Freedom cannot be imprisoned within 4 walls; freedom exists in each of us.
