The wind had howled all through the night, the side of my tent hugged me periodically for safety. Morning brought some relief, yet a sea of grey cloud remained and flowed across the lake, not allowing a single glimpse of the sun.
I brewed an alpine coffee and sipped this elixir of life while watching the dense grey clouds move in waves, and dance across the quiet water. It was beautiful, a lovely monochrome alpine ballet.
Soon the winds picked up, but differently from the night. They were softer, whimsical. They eased the clouds to welcome the sun's warmth, and rays gleamed through to backlight the treeline and illuminate the water.
Ah yes, hello serenity. Welcome back.
