Taken at Ho'okipa Lookout on the North Shore of Maui, Hawaii on May 21, 2021. I took this crouching on a tiny rock in a tide pool for over an hour as the tide came in. I tried to time the big waves hitting the rocks with a long exposure but really had no idea what I'd gotten til I returned home a week later. The salty ocean spray does nothing good for optics, and this was my first time using these filters so I was pretty excited to see how the colors were captured in-camera. The experience of capturing this image is magical for me and a big part of 2021. This was my first trip post-pandemic (it's over now, right?) Minutes before this was taken, my companion learned they had landed their dream job. Half an hour before that, we had been given a free convertible upgrade by the car rental company. This was our first stop on Maui's famous Road to Hana and this picture captures the feeling perfectly. It was magical, and worth committing to the blockchain to memorialize the moment.
