I believe a certain allure of artwork stems from its abstract quality. It leaves room for interpretations and possibilities conceived by the viewer’s mind. However, for the artist, it all begins with a story. This photograph, too, has a story to tell.
Here, you see two modes of transportation. On the left, a linear road cuts through, and on the right, a water canal creates a gentle curve. In the canal, a number of boats lay parked idly. It's worth noting that this isn't a common occurrence.
These boats were parked there for a reason. In order to promote sustainable fishing practices, counterintuitively, for specific periods in a year, fishing is suspended. It coincides with the fishes' breeding season. This vital pause breathes new life into the waters, restoring a healthy balance that is essential for a sustainable future.
At its core, the image represents the juxtaposition of development and tradition.
The textures and patterns, the small veinlets interspersed with patches
of green cover, and the distinct colour palette of browns and greys give
it a unique character. The emerald waters, broken by the eddies of a
single moving boat, meet the starkness of concrete, reflecting the image's
paradox and contrast- ‘Sometimes, we need to stop in order to move forward'.
