In a quiet area of the Rockies known as Kannanaskis, the mountains are tall and wildlife abundant. Within an hour of driving into this rugged and wild place for the first time, I saw a moose and grizzly bear. I remember this evening like it was yesterday; we were enjoying sunset from a ridge overlooking a truly spectacular lake. In front of us, a sheer cliff drops down to the lake shore thousands of feet below and out of the void, an absolute unit of a mountain goat appears.
I don't consider myself a wildlife photographer by any means but if given the chance, I'm going to take it. This beautiful goat was within a few feet and it looked at me for just a split second. If I'd have blinked, I would have missed this entirely. Which I guess is a nice metaphor for life.
