On June 17th, 2022, a line of severe storms rolled in to the Eloy, Arizona area with incredible ferocity. The ensuing outflow of wind and dust from these storms generated a sandstorm (haboob) that raced across the farmlands engulfing everything in its path. As this shot was being captured, power was knocked out to the town of Eloy, and several cars and two semi trucks crashed on Interstate 10. And through all the dirt and debris, lightning continually pierced the wall and could be seen for miles. The title of this piece is meant to describe the thickness of the sandstorm and clouds, and the power of a thin lightning bolt to shine through it all. But it's also an admonition to those who pursue their passion, that through "thick and thin," never stop chasing.
