On July 20, 2022, when skies seemed to have already breathed their last, this tiny storm set itself in motion right at sunset south of Tombstone, Arizona. What started out as a nearly colorless, uninteresting cloud turned into a spinning, structured storm that appeared to have points you see on a jeweled crown. For me, being able to successfully find a rare, vibrant storm like this is my crowning achievement, and I'm so thankful I push myself hard in both forecasting, targeting, and listening to my instincts to capture extraordinary shots like this.
