On August 1, 2021, I persued several storms in southeastern Arizona that dropped prolific daytime lightning and dropped frequent heavy rain and hail. I had to stop my car along this lonely two lane state highway near Bowie, Arizona and watch in amazement as the cloud structure went wild, dazzled and undulated all the same time. In the midst of the glow a bolt appeared from the forward flank of the storm, where most of the rain falls in a storm with rotating mesocyclones.
